Cooley Law School Breaks Ground at New Auburn Hills Campus
The Thomas M. Cooley Law School broke ground today on a 62,000-square-foot addition to an existing building that is already being renovated on the law school’s new Auburn Hills campus. The 65,300-square-foot existing building is scheduled to welcome its first students in January 2008. The new addition that was begun today will be ready for student use by January 2009.
Cooley’s new 67-acre Auburn Hills campus, 2630 Featherstone Road, will replace the school’s
current Oakland County location, on the campus of Oakland University,
in January 2008.
"Our southeast Michigan program has experienced tremendous growth during the past two years," Thomas M. Cooley Law School President Don LeDuc said. "We demand the very best from our students and are excited to offer them a comprehensive, top-notch facility in which to learn."
More than 600 students currently attend Cooley Law School on the campus of Oakland University.
In January 2008, enrollment at Cooley’s Auburn Hills campus is projected to be approximately 650 students and 750 students by January 2009. Cooley has more than 3,600 students at its three locations in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Oakland County.
The school will seek certification for the new complex under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™.
