WMU-Cooley has two Estate Planning Clinics. The Sixty Plus Estate Planning Clinic in Lansing, Michigan, provides evening and weekend students opportunities to assist area senior citizens with estate planning issues. The Estate Planning Clinic in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is a program is a collaboration between WMU-Cooley and Lakeshore Legal Aid that provides evening and weekend students opportunities to assist senior citizens in Oakland County, Michigan with estate planning issues. Both programs are a one-term program, for three credits.
What Do Students Learn?
The Sixty Plus Estate Planning Clinic accepts applications from students who will have completed 40 or more credits and who have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or better. The clinic offers a one-term Estate Planning Clinic. This program is available to weekend and evening students and others if space is available. There are two sections offered, an evening session and a Saturday morning session. Interns interview and counsel clients, and draft wills, powers of attorney, and medical directives. This program allows students to have the clinical experience during weekend or evening hours.
